2014 Pinot Noir
This Pinot Noir is full bodied with strong acidity, a floral nose and flavors of warm spices. The very warm year yielded 1.5 tons and was 25 brix at harvest. We made 75 cases in addition to a barrel we blended into the Red Oak. This is our favorite wine for making into a hot mulled wine during the holidays or any cold winter night.
This rich wine has bold tannins and has softened with age. The strong acidity suggests that it can cellar for many years. This was a very warm year with a record yield which made 145 cases in addition to two barrels we used to blend into the Red Oak. With the high yield and the 2015, 2016 and 2017 vintages coming along we put the 2014 on sale at $16 / bottle which represents a 33% discount.
This award winning red wine is a blend of our Tempranillo and Pinot Noir. It exemplifies the richness of the Tempranillo and the fruitiness of the Pinot Noir. Rich and smooth it is an easy drinking yet complex wine that goes with most foods. Our 2014 Red Oak received a Gold medal in the Oregon Wine Experience competition in 2016, it is almost sold out. Our 2015 is just as rich and wonderful and now available.
Wines of the Umpqua
Begin your wine country tour at Triple Oak Wine Vault, located in Historic Oakland, gateway to the Umpqua. Valley. In addition to being the tasting room for the Triple Oak Vineyard we also offer wines of seven other Umpqua Valley Wineries. We give you a taste of the Umpqua featuring a signature varietal from a different winery each weekend.
Red Amber Rose
This is a deep ruby colored Rose' of Pinot Noir. It is made almost dry with just 1.5% residual sugar. Excellent lightly chilled with roasted poultry or cheeses or on a summer afternoon.
This aromatic white wine seems to be liked by everyone, whether they usually like sweet or dry white wines. It is made dry but the tropical fruit nose is so intense it almost seems sweet. It is a perfect party wine whether it is a summer afternoon on the deck or a winter evening by the fire.
This white wine has a hint of sweetness for those who like a wine on the sweet side, without being as sweet as a dessert wine. It has a gentle acidity with aromas of passion fruit and pear.
2010 and 2011 Tempranillo
These were cool wet years but they yielded award winning Tempranillo; Gold and platinum medals from the professional judges at the Greatest of the Grape. The grape skins are tough so they resist botrytis and we could let them hang through the cool wet fall until they were ripe and the acids had softened. The 2010 vintage yielded our first ever medal; a Gold at the Greatest of the Grape. There are three cases of 2010 remaining. The 2011 received the highest award; the Platinum. There are a few bottles remaining. Harvested 1.4 tons on 10/19 at 22.7 brix.
This dark, smooth Tempranillo has received high accolades from the Oregon Tempranillo Alliance and two medals including gold from the Women’s International Wine Competition. Comments are: “Lovely clarity and compelling aromatics. Powerful aromatic with dark fruits, lush and fruit driven on the palate with black cherry, mulberry and a touch of savory spice. Firm but not overwhelming tannins.
2015 Tempranillo Reserve
This wine was a happy outcome of a miscalculation of the number of bottles needed for our 2015 Tempranillo. We had a keg of extra wine so we played with it, adding 9% Viognier. The result was described by the Oregon Tempranillo Alliance judges as a “really well made modern Tempranillo. Oak handled beautifully, a very, very nice wine!”
2016 Pico Tempranillo
This wine was made intentionally, like the 2015 Reserve. It is 91% Tempranillo and 9% Viognier. Pico comes from the Spanish name for Viognier; Picotin. But Pico also means peak, so it is the peak of perfection. Just one barrel or 56 cases made.
This Tempranillo was judged at the Oregon Tempranillo Alliance with the descriptors: Dark garnet in color, this wine aromas are of cherry and plum and a bit of cedar. In the mouth, bright cherry and cedar flavors have a light cola and mocha note to them and are bouncy with excellent acidity. A nice cola note lingers in the finish. Faint tannins gain strength as the wine lingers on the palate. This is very easy to drink. The well-integrated oak stays very unobtrusive in the wine.
2017 Red Oak Rosé
This wine picked up a deep rose color from the Pinot Noir and Tempranillo grape skins even though we pressed the wine off the skins within hours of picking the grapes. We retained about 3% residual sugar which yielded a rich complex Rosé with slight sweetness and a bright fruity nose. Red Oak Rosé appeals to most any palate and is wonderful with appetizers or at picnics.
2015 Red Oak
This is our signature blend of Tempranillo and Pinot Noir, usually 60% to 40% respectively. The 2015 received a medal at Savor Northwest, continuing our tradition of medals for this unusual blend. It is smooth and rich with the fruity nose of the Pinot and the richness of the Tempranillo.
2016 Red Oak
This is our signature blend of Tempranillo and Pinot Noir, usually 60% to 40% respectively. This wine has characteristics very similar to the 2015, continuing our tradition of smooth and rich with the fruity nose of the Pinot and the richness of the Tempranillo.
2015 Pinot Noir
This is my favorite Pinot Noir since our 2012 vintage. It is rich, smooth and dark; exemplifying Pinots of southern Oregon. The nose is of cloves and spices. The 2012 received a silver medal from the professional judges at Greatest of the Grape. We did not submit the 2015, but I believe it is at least as good as the 2016 (see below).
2016 Pinot Noir
This dark but bright Pinot looks to be following in the footsteps of the 2015. It can be consumed now or held for a couple of years to develop more of the rich character of southern Oregon Pinots. This one we did submit to the Women’s International Wine Competition where it received a gold medal. This is especially gratifying since there were hundreds of Pinot Noirs submitted.
2018 White Oak
This bright cheerful off-dry white wine is a blend of Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer. With just a hint of sweetness and light acidity to give it balance it is perfect for a summer afternoon. It has the fruit aromas of the Pinot Gris and the rich minerality of the Gewurztraminer. With less than 40 cases made it is disappearing fast.
